After all the color and shading and effects I’ve been putting in my recent cards, I wanted to go back to simpler, black & white line drawings. The top card features words of wisdom from Our Cat.
The lower card was a horizontal folded card. The outside of the card is the upper half, the section below the line is the inside of the card.
Everyone sing along now, “Happy Birthday dear Lisa, Happy Birthday to You!”
A spur of the moment card. Very quick and rough, I drew this when Lisa wasn’t looking. The “Wizard of Oz” effect in the last panel, where the colors turn to Christmas intensity, was Lisa’s idea. I went back and changed the card.
Cats and wrapping paper, a perfect match.
A hummingbird sitting in our orchid tree, caught from our two story deck.
Our Cat regally sitting on the warm garage roof in the late afternoon, also from our deck.
Where there are Christmas gifts, there are boxes. Where there are boxes, there are cats to hide inside them. And where there are cats, there is a bit of chaos – and lots of laughter.
This idea seemed to fit better as an animated cartoon rather than a comic. I just felt like creating smooth, simple shapes for this cartoon, so I used bucket painting. On other .gif cartoons I have used pixel drawing, which creates a rougher, hand drawn quality.
