Help from our friends
Recently we had to to the “grownup thing” and update some legal papers. We did this with the help of Mary C., our lawyer. I made this cartoon afterwards to thank her for her help through the years.
Thanks to Lisa for suggesting we condense many unrelated events into a single panel, single moment mash-up cartoon (“You should have the swordfish playing the violin!”).
Everything in this cartoon happened, exactly as depicted. Well, almost exactly:
- Mary’s office does have a very high ceiling with a loft or balcony.
- There is a papier-mache swordfish stored in the loft (not entirely sure why) with just the tip of its sword visible from below.
- During our meeting wonderful violin music started to play. It sounded like it was coming down from above – it was actually coming from the violin school next door.
- We did have to put our thumbprints into a log book, as part of notarizing some documents.
- One of the documents did include the phrase “the remaining remainder,” which stuck in my head as a strange bit of legaleze.
- And Our Cat does love fish
