This year Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, starts at sunset on September 28. It is the year 5772 by the Jewish calendar. A traditional Rosh Hashanah greeting is “L’shanah tovah tikatevu”, often shortened to “shanah tovah”. Translated literally it means “May you be inscribed (in the Book of Life) for a good year”, which I have always thought was a very sweet thought.
For this year’s New Year’s card to my father, I decided to draw the moment when his name is inscribed.
Happy New Year to all.
